Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart was published by William Heinemann. The book was the first widely read work of literature about Africans, by an African. Achebe was inspired to write his novel after feeling betrayed by Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. Achebe loved Conrad’s novel as a child, but as he grew older he realized it portrayed Africans as savages and “rudimentary souls.” Finding no authentic African novels to read, Achebe set out to write his own. His work was groundbreaking in that it opened the eyes of readers around the world, resulting in the growth of world literature as a whole.

Ayush Raj

Sahityika has been a warm and inspiring space, full of creativity, connection, and growth. It's where I found not just a platform for expression, but a family of like-minded, supportive individuals.

Sreevidya

Sahityika is a sanctuary—a sanctuary where creativity overflows. It has taught me so many things. It’s now become like home, full of fun and friends. I don’t know how words could ever capture the beauty of this place.

Prasidha Jayaramakrishnan

Being a part of group of highly knowledgeable people who share my love for literature has been a liberating journey. Even though I am occasionally active in the group through messages, I tend to stay in track with the happenings of the group. From what I've seen, Sahityika feels to me like a group of non-judgmental people who bring to the table a lot of different views on the world. I've learnt a lot from this place.

Vedam Thanvi Sree Nithya

Raajameenakshi's leadership. Satyaki's Poems. Shambhavi's events. Sejal's scripts. And the entire team's enthusiasm and participation, it wins all our hearts. Sahityika is a warm, welcoming space which brings out the writer in us, brings out emotions and provides a space for us to connect better as people, unfiltered, unjudged, real.
